Episode Notes

From Exodus to Easter: The Lost Plant Medicine of the Bible

In this episode of the Roots to Riches podcast, we delve into the fascinating topic of Kaneh Bosm, a term found in Exodus 30:22-25, which many scholars, including Hebrew etymologist Sula Benet, believe refers to cannabis. I, Justin Benton, your host, explore the historical and linguistic evidence suggesting that cannabis was a key ingredient in the holy anointing oil used by Moses and Jesus.

We discuss how the mistranslation of Kaneh Bosm to "calamus" in the Greek Septuagint has obscured this truth for centuries. This episode is particularly timely as it coincides with Easter, a period of resurrection and rediscovery. We reflect on how Jesus, the anointed one, used this sacred oil in his healing ministry, emphasizing the holistic and earthy practices of the early church.

I also touch on the modern wellness and plant medicine movement, advocating for a return to natural healing methods that align with ancient wisdom. Our mission is to reach a billion people by 2025, promoting both natural and spiritual healing.

Throughout the episode, I encourage listeners to question traditional narratives, seek the truth, and consider the profound implications of rediscovering Kaneh Bosm. We conclude with a call to action, inviting listeners to share this knowledge and join us in our mission to heal the world.

Justin Benton:
All right, let's start off. What is cannabosam? Found in Exodus 30, 22 through 25, God's exact recipe for anointing oil. Hebrew, canna means reed or stalk. Bossam means aromatic. Many scholars like Sula Benay, the Hebrew epitomologist, believe and have proven that this refers to cannabis. Why? Ancient trade routes, language overlaps, and plant properties. Welcome to Roots to Riches, where natural healing meets unstoppable success. Hi, I'm Justin Benton, your guide to unlocking ancient wisdom to boost your health and your wealth. Together, we'll explore these lost secrets that can transform our lives and the world around us. Let's get started. Welcome back to the Roots to Riches podcast where we discuss all things boosting your health and boosting your wealth. Well today we're talking about boosting your health. It's Easter time, actually recording this on Good Friday, and got me thinking I also have been receiving comments on the YouTube world of this podcast being put out on their platform and people are loving and appreciating that topic of Cannabossum, which we've talked about. numerous times on the Roots to Riches podcast, formerly known as the Miracle Plant podcast. And so I was inspired to talk about it. Obviously, it's a very, very big time of the year when we talk about Easter and Jesus Christ, Yeshua. And I just, one of my favorite topics. And so I'm obviously listening to your comments and reading your comments. And this has been the most commented on topic that I've ever had on this podcast. So I think we're going on four years now. So I figured, hey, let's talk some more about it. You want to talk about it? I want to talk about it. So I love talking about cannabis. And for those of you that are hearing this for the first time, number one, hey, my name's Justin Benton. And number two, cannabossum is the Hebrew word for cannabis. Now that might blow you away because cannabossum was mistranslated when they translated the Hebrew version of the Torah, or the Bible, into the Greek version of the Septuagint 300 years before Jesus. They took the word cannabis, or cannabossum, which meant cannabis, and they translated it to calamus, sweet, sweet calamus, which is like a marshy, pussy willow plant. that is not indigenous to the area and would not have been used in the times of Moses and of Jesus and oops they messed up. Now whether they did it on purpose or not or for nefarious reasons You know, we may never know unless we figure out that flex capacitor and get 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to fire up that old DeLorean. And I always kid with people, but I'm serious. If we ever do figure out time travel, you know, black holes and all the stuff that we're seeing with the new James Webb telescope, and we figure out how to do time travel, And I get to set the date as Marty McFly would do in Back to the Future. I am going back to the time of Jesus, especially for his ministry from his ages 30 to 33. And I'm going to check it out. And it would be my favorite time to be alive, to be a disciple in the time of Jesus. So anyways, I digress. We're talking about Cannabism, which is, you know, Jesus was a rabbi, or means teacher, and he obviously wrote and read in Hebrew. He spoke in Aramaic, but the Hebrew was his religion, and he was a rabbi in the Jewish faith, and they used the holy anointing oil And the holy anointing oil was a divine recipe given to Moses through the burning bush, which contained 500 shekels, which is like $500, of cannabis when they made this holy anointing oil to anoint kings. and high priests in the Jewish faith. So it was a very, very big deal. In fact, Yeshua, which means Joshua in English, Yeshua, Jesus, was considered the Christ. And the Christ, Christ means the anointed one. So there's some serious tie-ins here when we're talking about cannabism, meaning cannabis, being divinely inspired and the recipe given to Moses, who then made this holy anointing oil for kings, you know, and high priests to be the anointed one from God. And in fact, Jesus's name, as we know him, Jesus Christ is Jesus the anointed one. And so again, here in America, we've got a, or we've had a really bad, in general, mainstream impression of cannabis. In fact, we took a Mexican slang term for cannabis, which was called marijuana, and we created a campaign against it. And that's when the movie came out, Reefer Madness, if you've ever seen that. And they literally, the Hursts and other large players in the pharmaceutical space, came out against cannabis and hemp because it was something they didn't want to compete with, whether it was cotton, paper, pharmaceuticals. They wanted to use oil-based products for paints, for making paper out of trees, cotton, all of the things. And it succeeded. In 1937 they passed a marijuana tax act which made not only marijuana but hemp essentially illegal to grow. And in fact in 1936 there was a few million prescriptions written by U.S. doctors for cannabis oil for things like headaches, pain, relief. nausea, the list goes on and on. So then in 1937, when they passed the Marijuana Tax Act, the American Medical Association went to Congress, the doctors, and said, what have you done? You've taken away one of our most powerful tools in our tool belt to help treat people. And again, at the end of the day, it wasn't done for what was best for you or I. It was done what was best for those in power who could buy their way to getting such things done that it could be their own best interest, whether it was chopping down trees to make paper, like the Hearst's who owned all the printing presses, or whether it was the people that were using it for oil. They wanted to make all of the plastic products that we see and the paints and things of that nature petroleum-based. Or it was the pharmaceutical companies that didn't want to compete with this panacea, this miracle plant. So that's what happened. So, you know, for centuries we've heard about the anointing oil of the Bible. We've read the stories of Jesus healing the sick, casting out disease, and anointing with his power. But what if I told you this sacred ingredient in that oil wasn't just olives and spices like cinnamon, which is what it calls for, But in fact, the Hebrew word cannabossum is found in the original recipe as we've spoken about, given to Moses, is cannabis. So in today's episode, we're going to explore the lost plant of the Bible, the healing ministry of Jesus, and how this truth could reshape how we understand anointing and divine healing this Easter season. So let's dive in. I want to start off with a prayer. Father, we thank you for the opportunity to explore your word with open hearts. Guide us into truth, not tradition, not fear, but truth. In Jesus's name, amen. All right, let's start off. What is cannabis? Found in Exodus 30, 22 through 25, God's exact recipe for anointing oil, Hebrew, kana means reed or stalk, bosom means aromatic. Many scholars like Sula-B'nai, the Hebrew epitomologist, believe and have proven that this refers to cannabis. Why? Ancient trade routes, language overlaps, and plant properties. It wasn't just oil. It was oil infused with power. Power to cleanse, anoint, and heal. Jesus and His healing ministry. Christ, like we said, means anointed one. In Mark 6, chapter 13, disciples anointed the sick with oil and healed them. In James 5, 14 says, Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. Jesus healed with the touch, word, and oil with cannabisum as the vehicle in this anointing oil. Jesus didn't just heal spiritually, he restored bodies. And he used the same sacred oil given to Moses. And why this matters for Easter? Hey, it's Easter season. We're talking about today's Good Friday, the day that Jesus gave his life willingly for the salvation of man and will rise again on Sunday, three days later. And that's what we're celebrating Easter. is all about and so no better time than to talk about this now and for those of you that know me know that I love The Chosen and they just had season five released in the movie theaters and it talks about Holy Week and it ended with a kiss from Judas the one who betrayed Jesus and led the Jewish temple guards to arrest Jesus which led to his demise and his passion So Easter is about resurrection, not just of Jesus, but of lost truth. The early church was radical, holistic, earthy, nothing like today's sanitized version. Rediscovering Cannabossum connects us to the full gospel, mind, body, and spirit. This Easter, let's resurrect the truth about God's medicine cabinet. Here's the modern movement that we live in now. The wellness and plant medicine movement is catching on, but often disconnected from faith. Those of you that have listened to previous podcasts on this topic, my goal is to have an audience with the Pope, Pope Francis, and have this conversation. Let him know these facts, show him the evidence. and engage him in this dialect. And I pray that that's the opportunity that I'm granted so that we can talk about ancient traditions that were lost. We can talk about mistranslations, and we can talk about how we can help heal our people, both body, spirit, and mind, starting with cannabosom, starting with finding plant-based medicines that can help heal us without side effects, starting with the simple basics of health, food, diet, exercise, water, simple truths that have been lost. But there is hope. For those of you that know that I'm a big Robert Kennedy Jr. fan and that he just came out and talked about, he had his first press conference as the head of the HHS, Health and Human Services, and they're doing a deep dive on what are the environmental toxins. that have taken our children from one in 10,000 with an autism diagnosis when he was a kid to now, in California, it's one in 12.5 male children. Obviously, something has gone wrong. And you can date it back, I would date it back to 1937, the Marijuana Tax Act, when they took natural plant-based medicine out of the hands of doctors and replaced it with a poison chemistry set, which has killed millions and given millions more side effects and negative consequences for taking. Now, modern medicine, when it comes to ER interventions, car accidents, gunshots, broken bones, those are marvelous. You've come so far with actual surgeries. to save lives and help restore lives. But the medicine that we're feeding people in the hospital is poison. We are human guinea pigs, where it may help with one particular issue you're having, but in many cases, it breaks two or three other things. So again, I digress back to the modern movement here. The wellness and plant medicine movement is catching on, like I said, but often it's disconnected from faith. You can be a believer and still honor natural healing. Jesus did. They used plant-based medicine back then. There was no pharmacies back then, right? You know, if you had a sunburn, you cracked open aloe vera and the liquid that came out, you rubbed on the sunburn and it worked. There wasn't any over-processing or stacking it in warehouses so it could last for five years, all the things that have gotten us into trouble where we are. The return of Cannabossum is not a rebellion, it's a reclamation. Our mission, to reach a billion people by 2025, which is this year, to help people heal, be it naturally and or spiritually. And in closing, Jesus was the anointed one. What was he anointed with? Cannabosum and the anointing oil. This Easter, I challenge you to look deeper. Ask more questions, reclaim your roots, and let the truth set you free. This has been a Roots to Riches podcast. Again, I'm Justin Benton.
